Nicole Young Collier counsels Podesta Group clients as they reach out to state and local governments, drawing on her extensive experience working with the nation’s governors and mayors, as well as her expertise in telecommunications, privacy, education and workforce issues. Among her many other accomplishments at the firm, she has helped media and Internet industry clients to brand their products and services with members of Congress, their staffs and other policymakers and opinion leaders.As a senior policy adviser to the Honorable Jennifer Granholm, former governor of Michigan, Nicole worked on telecommunications, tax policy, education, workforce development and other issues. Representing Granholm when the governor chaired the National Governors Association’s Economic Development and Commerce Committee, Nicole helped develop policies and strategies on issues including Internet tax policy, business activity taxes and worker training initiatives. She worked with business leaders, governors from both parties and members of the US House and Senate and their staffs.When Nicole served as a senior policy and legislative associate with the National League of Cities, she gained valuable experience working with the nation’s mayors, as well as with state legislators and city council members on finance/tax policy, telecommunications, video franchising and matters related to the Federal Communications Commission.Early in her career, Nicole was a research associate at the Urban Institute’s Education Policy Center and a senior consultant at Arthur Andersen’s Office of Government Services. With a Master of Public Administration from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University, she also served as a White House intern for President Bill Clinton and First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton.A native of Syracuse, New York, Nicole has a bachelor's in political science from Hampton University.
