With vast experience and a proven record on Capitol Hill and in the newsroom, David Marin is a gifted communicator. Drawing on his keen understanding of the intersection between policy and publicity, David skillfully steers clients through communications and legislative strategies and is a recognized expert on oversight, government reform and federal procurement issues.

Among his many accomplishments for Podesta Group clients, David has used his PR smarts to achieve a dramatic increase in participation, revenues and congressional support for the Susan G. Komen Global Race for the Cure.

David’s experience in directing congressional investigations has been indispensable for clients involved in crisis situations. From 2005 through 2007, David served as staff director for the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, the largest committee in Congress. He oversaw many high profile congressional investigations, probing the use of steroids in professional sports, the performance of contractors in the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security, and the treatment of wounded veterans at Walter Reed. In the aftermath of one of the worst natural disasters in recent history, David served as the lead staffer for the Select Bipartisan Committee to Investigate the Preparation for and Response to Hurricane Katrina.

He also spearheaded passage of the EGovernment Act of 2002, the Services Acquisition Reform Act, the General Services Administration Modernization Act, the Federal Information Security Management Act and many other important laws. Earlier in his career, David served as chief aide, legislative director, press secretary and speechwriter for former Rep. Tom Davis (R-VA).

Before working on Capitol Hill, David was the political editor at The Connection newspapers in Northern Virginia, where he was also the chief editorial writer, and a political reporter for The Journal newspapers in Rockville, MD, where he won first prize from the DC/Maryland/Delaware Press Association for investigative reporting on Montgomery County Public Schools. Thanks to his work in journalism and in government, David’s Rolodex is thick, and he has strong relationships with the national, regional and trade press. He is also a regular contributor to Politico’s “The Arena,” weighing in on a daily debate among policymakers and opinion shapers.

A Jersey boy from Titusville, David earned a bachelor's from Harvard and a Juris Doctor from American University's Washington College of Law.
