From 2005 through 2007, David served as staff director for the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, the largest committee in Congress. He oversaw many high profile congressional investigations, probing the use of steroids in professional sports, the performance of contractors in the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security, and the treatment of wounded veterans at Walter Reed. In the aftermath of one of the worst natural disasters in recent history, David served as the lead staffer for the Select Bipartisan Committee to Investigate the Preparation for and Response to Hurricane Katrina.He also spearheaded passage of the EGovernment Act of 2002, the Services Acquisition Reform Act, the General Services Administration Modernization Act, the Federal Information Security Management Act and many other important laws. Earlier in his career, David served as chief aide, legislative director, press secretary and speechwriter for former Rep. Tom Davis (R-VA).Before working on Capitol Hill, David was the political editor at The Connection newspapers in Northern Virginia, where he was also the chief editorial writer, and a political reporter for The Journal newspapers in Rockville, MD, where he won first prize from the DC/Maryland/Delaware Press Association for investigative reporting on Montgomery County Public Schools. Thanks to his work in journalism and in government, David’s Rolodex is thick, and he has strong relationships with the national, regional and trade press.
