Christy Clark
Principal

Armed with top-level experience cultivated during more than a decade of working on issues at the critical juncture of national security and financial regulation, Christy Clark is a key asset for Podesta Group clients. Her knowledge spans US and international sanctions programs and financial regulatory issues, as well as other foreign policy, trade, defense and intelligence issues.

Before joining the Podesta Group, Christy served in the US Department of the Treasury, holding the same position in both the Bush and Obama administrations: chief of staff and senior adviser to the Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence (TFI). There, she developed and executed financial strategies to combat national security threats, respond to foreign policy challenges and protect the integrity of the international financial system. Fulfilling Treasury’s national security mission, these strategies made use of the department’s extensive financial sanctions and regulatory authorities and drew on the cooperation of governments and the private sector around the world.

Earlier in her career, Christy served as foreign policy and defense adviser to Senator Jon Kyl (R-AZ), managing his national security portfolio. She began her work on Capitol Hill as a staff member for the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, focusing on a broad range of regional foreign policy and strategic issues.

Originally from Maryland, Christy has a bachelor's in biochemistry from the University of Maryland Baltimore County and earned her Juris Doctor from The George Washington University Law School.
