Raising Our Clients’ Profiles
We provided strategic government
relations counsel and highly effective public relations tools
to a coalition made up of the nation’s leading research
universities for nearly a decade. To raise the profile of the coalition
among policymakers and help make the case for federal funding,
the Podesta Group crafted a set of finely honed, research-driven
messages for opinion leaders that demonstrated the everyday
applications of highly complex technologies. To deliver these
messages, the Podesta Group devised and implemented a number
of initiatives, the most recent of which was the complete
overhaul of the coalition’s website and the launch of
an e-newsletter distributed regularly to the coalition’s
membership, key policymakers and their staffs, and the press.
Through several well-timed public events, targeted issue ads,
strong grassroots advocacy and shrewd media relations, the
coalition succeeded in helping research gain a stronger
foothold in the federal budget debates and in trumpeting the
science message from coast to coast.
