John Ward Anderson, a former foreign correspondent with The Washington Post and editor of POLITICO Magazine, brings extensive experience to the Podesta Group’s international practice. Drawing on his in-depth understanding of foreign policy, he works on issues such as military engagement, international trade and investment and emerging democracies for the firm’s foreign and international clients. In addition to providing a unique perspective on policy, he also will assist clients in public relations and media strategies, helping them take advantage of emerging communications technologies.
As a top editor at POLITICO, John helped edit coverage of the White House, health care, energy and the environment, the economy and defense for POLITICO’s website and daily newspaper. Prior to that, John was one of the longest-serving foreign correspondents in the history of The Washington Post, spending 16 years overseas as the bureau chief in New Delhi, Mexico City, Istanbul, Jerusalem and Paris. He was one of The Post’s senior Baghdad correspondents, frequently reported from Afghanistan and spearheaded the paper’s groundbreaking coverage of Iran.
