Ellen Haas

Ellen Haas is Of Counsel to the Podesta Group and heads up the firm’s Food, Nutrition and Agriculture Policy Practice. Ellen is a nationally recognized expert on food and nutrition policy. She also has a wealth of experience on consumer issues and was elected to five terms as president of the Consumer Federation of America. Former President Bill Clinton appointed her to serve as the Undersecretary of Agriculture for Food, Nutrition and Consumer Services. In this capacity, she was responsible for the nation’s 15 food assistance programs, including Food Stamps, the Women, Infants and Children program (WIC) and the School Lunch Program. She also oversaw the Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion.

Ellen is the founder of FoodFit.com, which provides consumers with the information and tools they need to lead a healthier life. FoodFit.com is a division of the Health Central Network, Inc. (THCN). Ellen also founded and served as executive director of Public Voice for Food and Health Policy, a national advocacy organization, and she was a leader in creating mandatory nutrition labeling and improving food safety. Ellen is a member of Harvard University’s Food Policy Group, and she serves on the Future State Advisory Board of the Campbell Soup Company and on the boards of the Springboard Trust and the L’Enfant Trust for historic preservation.
