Dale Oak, a senior strategist at the Podesta Group, brings more than 21 years of budget and appropriations experience to the firm’s financial services and appropriations practices. Most recently, he was the staff director for the House Appropriations Committee’s Financial Services and General Government Subcommittee, which has jurisdiction over the expenditures for the Department of the Treasury, the Executive Office of the President, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and more than 20 other federal agencies. Together with Chairman José Serrano (D-NY), he successfully organized and staffed this new subcommittee at its inception in January 2007.
Prior to his position as staff director, Dale worked as a professional staff member for the House Appropriations Committee, where he specialized in budget estimates and procedures. He also served as a budget preparation specialist for the US Office of Management and Budget, where he received three Professional Achievement Awards. Dale began his career in Washington, DC, as a legislative assistant to former Rep. John R. McKernan, Jr. (R-ME).
